What are your initial thoughts about the advert?
My initial thoughts about this advert are that dolce & gabbana are trying to show their clothing is sexy and stylish, the advert shows five people, four men and one woman, I believe with this advert they try to show a violent but sexual side to the characters to attract people to buying the clothing.
What interesting denotations and connotations do you notice?
Denotations: 4 men and 1 woman being restrained
Connotations: Violence, Weapons, Sex and Male dominance
What do you think the advertiser is trying to communicate to the target audience?
I think the advertiser is trying to communicate to the target audience by showing male dominance over the woman in the photo and portraying that as the brand (Dolce & Gabbana) is more of a manly and rugged clothing line
Why do you think people may have protested against the advert?
I believe people may have protested because to young children seeing the advert they may get the idea that it is ok to pin a girl down as one of the males is doing, also its quite a sexual advert with the two men topless and the woman in small clothing.
